Breakthrough

What is your genius gift? That one innate talent no one else can do, quite like you? I'm on a quest to uncover mine. I have a hunch, an inkling, but am I willing to go out on a limb and speak it? Speaking it makes it so finite. I know, you probably think I'm rambling, but really I'm just uncovering. And in the process of uncovering, sometimes you have to force yourself to think out loud, or, maybe to blog out loud--so to speak. I'm on the verge of a breakthrough. I can feel it.

Don't Let Me Get in My Zone

What's that you say? It's 2012?! Not only 2012 but the third month of the year? Well I'll be damned. See what happens when I get in my zone? I've been busy dreaming, planning, and working on bringing my dreams to reality. In that way, 2011 kind of blended into 2012 for me. And that's a good thing.

A good friend who's a couple of years older than me once told me that the last years of your 20s are the best years. I didn't want to believe her, because at the time it sounded way more fun to be 25 than 28. But then I actually hit 28 last month, and literally, like clockwork, a series of incredible events rolled out in short order. I'm still sorting through it all and most of all, making sure to check myself and enjoy every moment of the late twenties journey.

Keep Your Own Counsel

Happened across this  How I Made It online video featuring Bevy Smith. I'm guilty of this line of thinking, and I'm ready to stop. 

"Keep your own counsel. So many of us, and I was like this too when I was younger, you know, you don't feel confident in yourself, so you're like: 'Oh, I need to find a mentor. I need to ask ten people their opinion about something that I want to do.' Why would you do that? They don't know you. You know you. You know what you really want. So that's what you should go for." - Bevy Smith
